We see the lights, the stages, the success stories. Those that seem to have found their way and are killing it at life. Those that seem to have risen above their situations, temptations, and adversities. Then we begin to wonder, is there some divine order to all of this? Are some people just a tad bit more special? Or are we all called by God?
Coming into salvation, this was the question that I had. OK! Let me back up a bit. Earlier in my walk with God, I was surrounded with young adults that were on fire for Christ. I mean these people were preaching, speaking in tongues, prophesying, and praying the building down….like straight outta heaven. Since I didn’t think that I was anywhere near that level, in my moments I would ask God questions like, “What is my purpose?” “Am I even called by You?”. Yes I loved Jesus, but their walk just looked power packed and glitzier. After months of pursuit and asking, God began giving me glimpses and previews.
Initially, I thought when we got saved, then God would give us a calling and a task to do as a Christian. It was not until later on, I realized how wrong I was. God is not an in the moment kind of God. He did not wait until you got saved then say, “Since you chose me, now I can use you.” Scripture puts it a little something like this
It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
-Ephesians 1:11-12 (MSG)
Even before you made up your mind to follow Jesus, God had a plan and a calling on your life that is specific to you. Before you were created, God mapped out a life for you to live here on this earth.
The beauty about God is that He did not just call you and leave you hanging. Since God already knew what your entire life ought to look like, He then began equipping you with tools to fulfill this calling in the midst of creating you. Whatever God has called you to do on this earth, He was sure to give you gifts and the ability to complete these tasks. For some it may be to teach, to organize, to sing. For others, it may be to encourage, to lead, or to nurture. For some it may be a combination of many. No matter what your calling is, GOD HAS ALREADY QUALIFIED YOU.
Whether you are saved, newly saved, or developing in salvation, the only way to completely live out our calling authentically is to develop and maintain a true relationship with Jesus. Honestly there is no other way. Now that you know that you are called by God, I encourage you to pursue God first and He will reveal your purposes here on earth. There is no such thing as big purposes and little purposes in God. Every single plan is important to God. You are important and you matter.
Cheers to answering Gods calling on your life! I am right here cheering you on. Whoot! Whoot!
As always……Be Strong, Be Courageous, Serve God whole heartedly.
